Quilts
Two days ago I finished a green quilt for a single bed. I can't show it yet, because I have to first find a nice way to make pictures of it. The first quilt I made about 15 years ago. It was a green/pink one for one of my daughter's bed. She liked it so much that she took it to Athens when she went to study and later to Holland where she continued her studies. Now it is waiting in a box in Holland to be shipped to America, where she is living now. I don't have a picture of this one, unfortunately.
Then I got caught up in all other projects, till about 3 years ago I decided it would be nice to start making patchwork quilts for myself and to sell.
This is the first(second) I made.
Most of it are used materials, old pillow cases, an old linen skirt, left over pieces of fabric from other projects, shirts. I have old pillow cases which my mother-in-law embroidered. white on white. Beautiful pieces, but the fabric became very thin and torn at some places. I want, one day, to make a white quilt, with all those embroidered pieces.
A close-up from the quilt. In the meantime I have learned a lot. So much more experience in getting the pieces stitched together exactly in the corners. But I love this piece because every little patch has a history.

ReplyDeleteYiur quilt looks really nice!
