The Greek facebook group "Και στην Ελλάδα αγαπάμε το πάτσγουωρκ" has organized a Quilt Along project.
The quilt will be in the colours of the Greek flag, blue and white. I am sure that the quilt will become lovely in this colours, with participation of lots of Greek quilters!

This is my block, the Sawtooth Star.

Easter, spring vintage table runner

You can still find old stock vintage fabrics in Greece. Old-fashioned shops like this one in Areopolis.

Or this one I use to go to in Kalamata.

And of course in Athens there are shops who sell old stock in the Monasteraki/Ermou area. I have gathered quite some vintage fabric over the past few years. Not all of the patterns are easy to combine, though. The other problem with different quality cotton is that the sewing is a bit tricky; some materials stretch more than the other !!
But I love the patterns and had a go at it again! I made this table runner, which looks lovely on my table in spring and summer. And now during the Easter time it goes very well with the traditional  red Greek Easter eggs.

It is a long runner and hangs down from the table on both sides, as you can see in these pictures of my living room.

Cushion with butterflies and flowers for Floga

Φλόγα, Σύλλογος γονιών παιδιών με νεοπλασματική ασθένεια

Floga, which means Flame, is an association for children with a special kind of cancer. Together with the Greek Bloggers they have organized a fair to help support the work of the association. They selected a lovely theme for this fair; butterflies and flowers!
The response is enormous! Already more than 450 people have send their contributions. Butterflies and flowers jewelry, knitwear, wood, decoupage! All different  kind of crafts are participating. Everybody is touched by the ordeal this children and their families have to go through.

Here are my butterflies and flowers, ready to be send

Blue Dresden Plate cushion

In September 2012 Kristine Pappas organize a Quilt Seminar in Thessaloniki. I went and had a great time. You can read about this in older posts.
Now I want to show you what I did with the block I made at one of the workshops.
We made a lovely Dresden Plate block. Some of us in red, others in blue.
I made a blue one, took it home, half-finished and looked at it every now and then, when I was going through my stack of fabrics, thinking that I should do something with it !!!!

I changed the colour from the inner circle from yellow to turquoise, put a border around it, made from a vintage apron/dress  that I found in the second hand store and made a cushion.

Now, that I see the result, I wonder why I didn't do this earlier. It looks so cute!

This picture was taken at the workshop. All very proud girls !!!
