Baby quilts

It's unusually cold here in Sparta. Time to be inside, put on some warm clothes, and get some more blankets out. This week we are going to have frost! I picked quite some oranges and mandarines from the trees in my garden, because a few days of frost will damage them and that would be a pity.  Some of my plants in the garden look already damaged by the cold weather. But.... when spring comes they will come up again because they have strong roots. They're survivers!

So, I don't have to work in the garden, that means lot of time for sewing. I finished a quilt for a baby bed, some rolls to put in front of doors, stopping the draught from coming in, and washed a lot of material that I bought from a shop which is closing down. Some nice vintage material.

Some baby quilts

Flopsy was very curious , had to smell, then turned around as to say:" Now what is this??"

In my neighbourhood there are a lot of cats. Most of them are outdoor cats, not really stray cats because people feed them, but they don't take them to the vet if there is something wrong. Also they don't have them "fixed", so they multiply and they get sick. I am the cat saver from the block.! People call me when there is a cat in distress. I try to find homes for them. The good thing is that I have a lot of lovely cat pictures.
This is my Flopsy, the cat who comes in the house

These are the two stray cat sisters who live under my balcony and in my garden. I'm going to adopt them and have them vaccinated and fixed. There so sweet, both of them.

Flopsy had a little sister when he was young.

Winter bags

January is cold this year. We need thick coats, scarfs and hats at the moment. The wind is freezing, although the sun is shining nicely. I went to walk in the stadium today and  liked it a lot. The stadium is situated in a beautiful spot. You walk and see the mountains on both sides, with snow on the tops The snow on the Taygetos shimers in the sunlight, against a clear blue sky.
I've got some lovely woollen material to make winter bags. Can't wait to start, but first I have to finish a quilt order.

These are some cotton bags in winter colours.

Christmas decoration

It's a bit late, but I just wanted to show you some of my Christmas decoration. I had some problems with my photo program, but I managed, with some help, to sort that out. I kept the living room this year in silver, white and green. The wreath I made myself. Today, I'll put everything in the boxes again and the house will look kind of empty.
After an enormous storm we had yesterday, today the sun is shining. Everything is drying up and I see the leaves of narcisses and fresias coming up. Forebode of spring!

I just finished my last Christmas table runner for this year. It's an order and the person who will get it, will enjoy it next year. I wanted to post some pictures of the Christmas stuff I made, but there was a problem. I couldn't transfer the photo's from the camera to the compter. Have to look into that tomorrow.

Besides patchwork, I also make cushions with old (or new) pieces of embroidery. I use the embroidery as it is, or cut pieces from it and re-use them.

A few examples of the cushions. I need to find some more embroidery!

A new start

When I started this blog, I had the intention of writing every day. Well, that didn't exactly happen. This year I am going to put my priorities different. I'm not going to say, that I'll write every day, but every week must be possible.
I made some good intentions for 2012. One of them is, that I'm going to take my patchwork "business" more serious. Just before Christmas I started to make some table runners, with the idea to have a little Christmas Sales Party. But I sold them all to friends, even before I could organize a party and I still have an order for 2 more. So, this year, I'll prepare myself better and make stock to have Easter, Summer, Autumn and Christmas Party Sales.
Time to start sewing!
