Farmer's Wife Revival Challenge 2017

Karen Walker from http://chezstitches.blogspot.gr/ started the Farmer's Wife Revival Challenge 2017. She has done this before and you can find a lot of information on her blog and/or FB page.
I have the Farmer's Wife book for about a year now and some piecing lessons from Karen. Lovely blocks! Only problem.....each block is only 6"x6"!!!

Now, this is an "easy" block, just squares!

I am not going to make the whole 111 pieces quilt, just a wall hanging. I probably need about 36 blocks.

My first block, the green one, is a bit too small. Might have to do that one again, O my!!! I realized that I am not used to such small pieces, because when I started to make the Basket Weave block I cut the separate pieces twice as big as I should!!! Made the block, though. After it was finished, I thought it would be nice for a tablecloth.

I have enough of the blue and the print, just have to buy some more pink. Big difference, a 6" or a 12" block!!
The wall hanging is supposed to be colourful, as I am a colourful person!

I just don't know yet how. At the moment the colour combinations don't really speak to me. I like the two lilac blocks together. We'll see. In the end things will work out! I guess!!

Have a Jolly Little Christmas

Well,  I can hear you think: "Christmas is just over!" But... it is never too early to start for next year, or better, for this year! I am always late in starting and then I have to rush, get nervous, etc.etc. to finish in time. This time I will be perfectly alright! To help me stick to my goal I am following the Have a Jolly Little Christmas Challenge, QAL from Sew Fresh Quilts. https://sewfreshquilts.blogspot.com/p/have-jolly-little-christmas.html

I made the first block with the two Christmas stockings. I liked it so much that I immediately made another block to make a cushion . The pattern for the whole quilt is fantastic!

I love this modern fresh look! Nice for on the couch and I am sure my grandson will love it too! There is also a version for a double bed, but I'll probably stick with this one!

Scrappy Tuesday

I am going to participate in the Scrappy Tuesday challenge. I just started  The Farmer's Wife blocks. I  am not going to make the whole quilt, but a wall hanging for the space above my couch. So only 36 blocks it will be!!

It will a very colourful piece, all made from scraps. I finished 3 blocks, but only made pictures of the first two. I never made such tiny blocks. A real challenge for me!

Wish me luck!!

A new year

I see lots of changes in this upcoming year. My patchwork and quilting hobby will become a more professional project. I am busy with the paperwork to let this happen. More over this in my next post.

Having a first grandchild I am still in a baby projects mood.

I made this Sugar Bunny from  a pattern in the book Pretty Patchwork Gifts from Helen Philipps. Isn't she cute?? I am going to make another one a bit bigger and it will be a "he". I will make him some trousers. He is not going to be taller because he is male, but just because the bunny is tiny as you can see here!!!!

The background is a wall hanging/bed decoration panel that I just finished. The pattern is called Be My Neighbor

The pattern before it was quilted.

You can  make the whole quilt and maybe I am going to do that  one time, but for now I just made a few blocks.First I wanted to make 4, but it became too much, so I ended up with 3.

The weather in Greece is unusually cold with snow and freezing temperatures. The northern mainland and a lot of the islands have a lot of snow. We, in the south are a bit better off. But....surprise! This morning also Sparta was white! After about 20 years again snow in the garden!!
