country life

The end of June! So many days, so many hours! Where did they go???
I must say that my daughter, who lives in the States, came over for a week. Then time passes really quick!
So, what did I do with the remaining time? I started to teach two women patchwork and quilting. They are going to make a cushion and are doing very well.

The pieces are cut from quilt fabric, vintage greek fabric, a second hand dirndle dress and an old second hand house dress.
The result looks lovely.
It is a challenge to sew pieces cut from different quality cottons, because some pieces have more stretch than others.

I made this red cushion as an example. The other one with the little Asian girls is made earlier. They go very well together and give a feeling of summer in the countryside.

In the background the Jasmine is smelling exquisite! It is a very old one. My father-in-law planted it when he had the house built in 1953! One winter we had 6 continuous days of frost, till -6 degrees. That year a lot of plants died in Sparta. I was very upset because the Jasmine also looked destroyed. But.... next year it started to get new branches and now it is in full bloom again!

Next time I will show the tablet covers I made. I'll try to post them in very due time, because I have plans to do a lot of sewing, so I will have a lot to show!!!!
Time to start working!

  5. Dear Ada, I am sure you spent a lovely time with your daughter! When children are visiting the daily routine can always wait!! Your red cushions are beautiful and I also like the light blue one under preparation. I can almost smell your Jasmine through the window...or is it mine while I am writing to you???

  6. Dearest Ada,
You created some lovely items and the time with your daughter was of course the best quality time.
Which state is she living in?
Tried to zoom in on your jasmine but could not figure out what type. Is it white blooming or yellow? We have different varieties of jasmine as well but we keep them in pots and they over winter in the greenhouse.
Hugs to you and happy July!
